Michael Kors N124

Michael Kors N124

Eyewear Design & Development | Spring 2024

Design and development of a men's eyewear collection balancing contemporary silhouettes, distinctive hardware, and recognizable Michael Kors brand details.

Design Challenge

The goal for the Spring 2024 Michael Kors men's collection was to introduce a younger, more contemporary design direction while maintaining the brand's recognizable identity. I explored updated silhouettes, proportions, and hardware details that could bring a fresh perspective to the assortment without losing the refined character associated with Michael Kors.

Hardware Development

Rather than introducing an entirely new hardware language, I drew inspiration from existing Michael Kors accessories, including jewelry, watches, and bags. I explored faceted surfaces and dimensional metalwork to develop updated Jet Setters hardware that felt more contemporary while remaining recognizable to the brand.

Final Design Details

The final designs incorporated angular temple tips, faceted rivets, and refined hardware details to give the collection a more contemporary character. These elements helped establish a cohesive design language across the assortment while maintaining recognizable Michael Kors styling.

Engineering & Technical Development

I developed detailed technical drawings to communicate frame dimensions, lens geometry, hardware placement, and construction requirements. These specifications helped translate the final designs into clear manufacturing references, ensuring that proportions and design details were accurately carried through development.

CAD to Production

The color CADs served as visual specifications for product development and manufacturing, communicating acetate patterns, metal finishes, lens colors, transparency, and branding. I also reviewed physical samples to evaluate how these details translated into finished products and identify areas for refinement.

68 SKUs Developed Through Production

The N223 development work encompassed 68 SKUs across men's and women's sun and optical eyewear, outlet assortments, and updates to existing styles. Through physical sample reviews, I evaluated CMF fidelity and refined details such as the scale of printed lens graphics to better align finished products with the intended designs.
