I am Nicholas Whitfield, an Austin, Texas based furniture, home goods, and eyewear designer who holds a BA in Product Design from Parsons School of Design. My work is based on the belief that objects should be designed with simplicity in mind, and that designing for a specific function will often lead to an aesthetically pleasing form. Close attention is paid to every detail, providing seemingly everyday objects with unique features.
Much of my design practice is rooted in his appreciation of architecture. In particular, 20th century minimalist architecture, as well as ancient Mayan and Aztec temples, serve as inspiration for my designed objects. My furniture and home good pieces frequently reference elements found in Italian piazzas and Central American ziggurats.
